School Nurse
Dear DES Families,
Wishing you a happy and healthy summer from the Health Office!
As we wrap up another wonderful school year, I want to thank all of our students and families for working hard to keep our school community healthy. Before you head off into summer sun, here are a few quick tips to ensure everyone stays safe and healthy over the break:
- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially when playing outside.
- Sun & bug protection: Don't forget to apply SPF 30+ sunscreen and insect repellent before heading outdoors. Reapply every two hours or after swimming.
- Keep moving and resting: Enjoy the great outdoors, but ensure your student maintains a consistent sleep routine so they return well-rested.
Important Notes for Parents & Guardians
As you prepare for the upcoming school year, please keep these important health updates in mind to ensure a smooth transition:
- Medication Pick-up: All medications left in the health office must be picked up by the last day of school. The school cannot store medications over the summer, and a new doctor’s order is required each school year.
- 3rd Grade Mandatory Physicals: Please note that the state requires an updated physical examination for all incoming 3rd grade students.
- Action plans: If your child has a medical condition that requires an Action Plan at school, please obtain the necessary Action Plan and medication authorization forms from your pediatrician during your child’s summer visit.
Have a safe, relaxing, and wonderful summer break! We look forward to seeing you in the fall!!
